The MEA2013 Awards honors the most innovative and creative design solutions that have been completed during the last five years in the Mediterranean zone. The goal is to enhance exchange of ideas on environmentally conscious design, and enrich the ecological sustainability approach. It also aims at highlighting projects that follow the principles of sustainability in architecture mainly through environmentally responsive passive design solutions. Implementation of natural systems and mild technologies is more welcome than high performance applications.<\/p>\n

The international jury of the Mediterranean Sustainable Architecture Award MEA2013, composed by Antonio Ortiz, G\u00fcnkut Akin, Panagiotis Tournikiotis, Ali Abu Ghanimeh\u00a0and Antoine Zammit, \u00a0decided to award the first prize in the category civic to the project Environmental Centre in Zaragoza, of Mag\u00e9n Arquitectos.<\/p>\n

In the category civic, all the prizes are located in Spain. Besides the Environmental Centre in Zaragoza, the 2nd prize was Ecosistema Urbano, and the 3rd prize was to the project Casa Mediterraneo of Manuel Oca\u00f1a.\u00a0The winners in each category of\u00a0MEA2013\u00a0were:<\/p>\n

– Civic: Environmental Centre in Zaragoza, Mag\u00e9n Arquitectos (ESP)<\/p>\n

– Cultural: UPI Kid University in Gand\u00eda, \u00c1ngela Garc\u00eda de Paredes\u00a0& Ignacio Pedrosa (ESP)<\/p>\n

– Urban: Ala\u00e7at\u0131 Windsmills Square, Ali Kural (TUR)<\/p>\n

– Leisure: Atelier Loubatas, Tania Teixeira (FRA)<\/p>\n

– Residential: University Apartment Building in the Mediterranean Park of Tecnology, Mestura Arquitectos (ESP)<\/p>\n

– Commercial Design: Tvzeb, Giovanni Traverso (ITA)<\/p>\n

All the judges have placed particular emphasis on projects that contribute to sustainable architecture in the Mediterranean. Awarded proposals demonstrate good appreciation of the Competition objectives, with sensitive handling of local context and climate. All awarded projects promote the dialogue on the implementation of mild strategies of sustainability, which is much more than just energy efficiency. The winning and shortlisted projects of the MEA2013 will feature in a special bilingual edition of Building Green Magazine, the quarterly Greek review.<\/p>\n

The prize-giving ceremony will be held in Athens by the end of October.<\/p>\n

Los Premios a la Arquitectura Mediterr\u00e1nea Sostenible MEA2013 seleccionan los proyectos m\u00e1s innovadores completados en los \u00faltimos cinco a\u00f1os en el \u00e1rea mediterr\u00e1nea. El objetivo es promover el intercambio de ideas sobre el dise\u00f1o ambientalmente responsable y destacar los proyectos que siguen los principios de la Sostenibilidad en Arquitectura a trav\u00e9s de soluciones de dise\u00f1o pasivo, estrategias blandas e implementaci\u00f3n de sistemas naturales.<\/p>\n

El jurado internacional de los Premios a la Arquitectura Mediterr\u00e1nea Sostenible MEA2013, compuesto por Antonio Ortiz, G\u00fcnkut Akin, Panagiotis Tournikiotis, Ali Abu Ghanimeh y Antoine Zammit,\u00a0 decidi\u00f3 dar el Primer Premio en la Categor\u00eda C\u00edvico al Centro Ambiental del Ebro en Zaragoza, de Mag\u00e9n Arquitectos.<\/p>\n

En la categor\u00eda C\u00edvico, todos los proyectos premiados est\u00e1n localizados en Espa\u00f1a. Adem\u00e1s del Centro Ambiental del Ebro en Zaragoza, el 2\u00aa premio fue para Ecosistema Urbano y el 3\u00ba para el Proyecto Casa Mediterr\u00e1neo de Manuel Oca\u00f1a. Los ganadores de cada categor\u00eda son:<\/p>\n

– Civico: Centro Ambiental del Ebro en Zaragoza, Mag\u00e9n Arquitectos (ESP)<\/p>\n

– Cultural: Guarder\u00eda en Gand\u00eda, \u00c1ngela Garc\u00eda de Paredes\u00a0& Ignacio Pedrosa (ESP)<\/p>\n

– Urbano: Plaza Ala\u00e7at\u0131, Ali Kural (TUR)<\/p>\n

– Ocio: Atelier Loubatas, Tania Teixeira (FRA)<\/p>\n

– Residencial: Edificio de apartamentos universitarios en el Parque Mediterr\u00e1neo de la Teconolog\u00eda, Mestura Arquitectos (ESP)<\/p>\n

– Comercial: Tvzeb, Giovanni Traverso (ITA)<\/p>\n

El jurado ha puesto especial \u00e9nfasis en los proyectos que contribuyen a la sostenibilidad en la Arquitectura mediterr\u00e1nea. Las propuestas premiadas destacan por la respuesta dada a los objetivos de la convocatoria, con una especial atenci\u00f3n al contexto y el clima locales. Los proyectos reconocidos apuestan por el di\u00e1logo y la implementaci\u00f3n de estrategias blandas de sostenibilidad, yendo m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de la mera eficiencia energ\u00e9tica. Los proyectos ganadores y seleccionados ser\u00e1n publicados en una edicic\u00f3n especial de la revista griega Building Green Magazine.<\/p>\n

La ceremonia de premios tendr\u00e1 lugar en Atenas a finales de octubre.<\/p>\n
